Falafel is a traditional Middle
Eastern dish. Since today is Valentine's day, I have planned a special exotic dinner for us. And today it's going to be Mediterranean menu, Falafel with pita
bread, salad and hummus.
Falafel is a very filling vegetarian dish, is perfect as a
starter, or a main course or just a snack. In this post I ‘am going to show you
how to make Falafel with step by step instructions and photos.
Chickpeas(Kondakadalai)

Garlic Cloves

Parsley

4 tsp finely chopped

Cilantro
|
4 tsp finely chopped

Onion
|
1 finely chopped
|
Green Chillies
|
4 finely chopped
|
Cumin Powder
|
1 tsp
|
Rice flour or All purpose flour
|
1 tbsp
|
Baking Soda
|
¾ tsp
|
Black Pepper Powder
|
1 tsp
|
Chilli Powder
|
1 tsp
|
Coriander Powder
|
1 tsp
|
Salt
|
As needed
|
Oil
|
As needed |
Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes
Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes

Method
In a large
bowl add the chickpeas, pour enough water to cover the chickpeas and soak it
overnight.
Drain the
water and grind it in the mixer or blender coarsely. Next add the parsley,
coriander leaves, green chillies, garlic and run the mixer one more time. Do
not over grind it.
Now transfer
it to the bowl, add onions, chilli powder, coriander powder, rice flour, pepper
powder, cumin powder, baking soda, salt and mix them real good.
Now make
small balls and fry them in the oil.
Serve the falafel with pita bread(store bought) or chapatti, salad and hummus.
Now delectable and mouth watering falafel is ready ....
