Oats Idli is a healthy way to start your day. Oats has lots of benefits to keep us healthy. It helps in reducing cholesterol, has high soluble fiber than any other grains. Oats are high in Iron, magnesium and protein.
Studies suggest that consuming 3 gm of oats daily as a part of diet reduces the risk of heart ailments....
I think this is one easy way to make our kids to eat oats....
Ingredients
Oats - 1 cup
Wheat rava or sooji - 1/2 cup
Mixed vegetables - 1/4 cup finely chopped
Yogurt - 1 cup
Green chillies - 2 0r 3 finely chopped
Cilantro - 1 tsp finely chopped
Salt - as needed
Ginger - 1/4 tsp
Lemon - Juice from 1/2 lemon
To temper
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1/4 tsp
Cumin - 1/4 tsp
Urad dhal - 1 tsp
Channa dhal - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 2 or 3 leaves
Method
1. Dry roast the oats and grind it coarsely. In another pan dry roast the the rava and transfer it to a bowl.
2. In the same pan add oil, add the ingredients mentioned to temper and allow it to splutter. Then add the mixed vegetables and saute it for 5 min. Later add ginger, green chillies and saute it for a min.
3. Now add the sauteed vegetables to ground oats and rava. Then add the yogurt,lemon juice, salt,coriander and desired amount of water to make the right consistency. Let it stand for 5 mins.
4. Oil the idli plates, pour the batter and steam it for 10 to 15 mins.
Yummy hot and delicious oats idli is ready to be served. You can serve it with tomato chutney or sambar....
