Oats Upma

Oats upma is yet another way to consume oats in a tasty and healthy manner. So why not try it to find out how yummy it is...

Ingredients

Oats                                                  1 cup
Mixed vegetables                        1 cup (finely chopped)
(beans,carrot,peas)
Onion(small)                                1 no   (finely chopped)
Tomato                                           1 no   (finely chopped)
Chillies                                             2 or 3 nos (slit in to pieces)
Ginger                                             small piece (finely chopped)

Mustard                                          1/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds                                  1/4 tsp  
Channa dhal                                  1/2 tsp
Curry leaves
Oil for tempering 
Salt as required
Water

Method
  • Heat one tsp of oil in a pan. Add mustard, cumin and channa dhal. Wait for it to splutter.
  • Add onions, saute until golden brown. Then add the chillies, ginger,curry leaves and tomatoes and saute until soft (2 to 3 min).
  • Add the vegetables and saute for another 3 to 5 mins, later add 3 cups and bring it to boil.
  • Add salt and oats and mix thoroughly.
  • Cover with a lid and cook till the oats are cooked.
