Ragi Putu Recipe/Kelvaragu Puttu With Idli Cooker/How to make Ragi Puttu in Idli Cooker/Kezhvaragu Puttu with step by step photos...

Ragi puttu is a healthy steamed food like the rava puttu in my earlier post. It can be taken as a breakfast or as a evening snack. I have posted step by step instructions with photos.

1 cup

 Method

Sprinkle water, salt and mix the ragi flour with hand until it looks like bread crumbs.

Now cut a clean cloth (cotton) for your Idli plate, cut a hole in the middle so that the cloth slides through the idli stand on to the plate.

[Use only clean, washed cloth and keep it only for steaming purpose. I think you will remember the days when our mothers used cloth for idli plates to make idli’s]

Now wet the cloth and place it on the idli plate. Then spread the ragi mix on the idli plate as shown in the photo. Later close the ragi mix with the excess cloth. Now steam it in idli cooker for 15 min.

After it is cooked, transfer the cooked ragi to the bowl. Then add cardamom powder, grated coconut, sugar and mix really good with hand. Now, yummy ragi puttu is ready to be served.

Note: If you think ragi is dry after cooking, just sprinkle little hot water or hot milk and mix it well

Serving suggestion: You can serve it with banana and milk.
