Chicken Pulav Recipe/Simple & Quick Chicken Pulav/Chicken Pulav Recipe/How to make Chicken Pulav with step by step photos.

Chicken Pulav is a one pot meal. It is very simple and quick to make. I am a great fan of Chef Dhamodharan. I have learnt and cooked lots of his recipes and this is one among them.

The main difference between Chicken pulav and Chicken biryani is pulav remains white and the taste is from the green chillies and coconut milk. Pulav is comparatively milder than biryani.

Ingredients

Chicken
300 gm
Basmathi Rice
3 cups
Onion
2 thinly sliced lengthwise
Green Chillies
8 to 10 slit length wise
Ginger & Garlic Paste
1 tbsp
Yogurt
¼  cup
Coconut milk + Water
4 ½ cups
Cinnamon
2 sticks
Cloves
2
Cardamom
2
Star Anise
2
Bay Leaves
2
Fennel Seeds
½
Mint leaves
One handful
Oil/Ghee
2 tsp
Cilantro
2 tsp finely chopped
Pepper powder
¼ tsp
Salt
As needed
Method
Cut, clean and wash the chicken, sprinkle pepper powder mix it and keep it aside.
Wash and soak the basmathi rice for 20 min.

In a pressure cooker, heat oil or ghee add cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom, star anise, bay leaves, fennel seeds and sauté for 20 sec’s.

Now add the onions, mint leaves, green chillies and sauté until it turns golden brown. Add the ginger & garlic paste and sauté for another 30 sec’s. Add the chicken and sauté until the color turns  white.

Add some salt, yogurt and let the chicken cook for 5 to10 min.  Add the coconut milk and water mixture to the pressure cooker. Wait for it boil real good, add the basmathi rice, required amount of salt, mint leaves and cilantro.

Mix it very gently, so that the rice should not break. Pressure cook it for one whistle in medium flame. Otherwise you can cook by just closing the lid without whistle for about 10 to 15 mins.

Hot and yummy chicken pulav is ready to be served.

It can be served with chicken masala or chicken gravy or even with just kurma or raita.

Note: If you want to make chicken pulav a little richer, you can grind 10 cashew nuts and add it along with the coconut milk.
