We make tomato soup in different ways, but this is my
mom’s version. You can drink it as such or add it to rice and have it or it can
be had with bread. This is a special soup in my family because it was my thattha’s (grandpa's) favorite. Check out my other Rasam Varieties here...

Method
In a
deep dish boil the water real good, at that time drop the tomatoes in the water
and leave it for 2 min. Remove the tomatoes from the water and peel the skin. [This process is called as blanching]. Save the water for later.
Next
blend the peeled tomatoes in the blender in to fine paste and keep it aside.
In a
pan heat oil, add cinnamon sticks, cloves, fennel seeds and bay leaves and sauté
for 30 sec’s. Now add the onions, chillies, garlic and ginger and sauté until
golden brown.
Now add
the pureed tomatoes and the saved water and let it boil. Now add the coriander
powder, salt and let it boil for 5 min’s.
Garnish
it with coriander leaves and yummy tomato soup is ready to be served.
