Paneer Butter Masala - Restaurant Style/Paneer Butter Masala Recipe/Paneer Butter Masala with step by step photos

Paneer butter masala is a very rich and a delightful dish. It is so fascinating that nobody can say no to it. Paneer is a fresh cheese that can be made at home. Unlike other cheeses it is unaged and made by curdling heated milk with lemon juice. Also check out other interesting and mouthwatering Paneer Recipes here, other North Indian Subjis here.

Method

In a kadai heat 1 tsp oil, add onions and sauté until golden brown. Now add the tomatoes and sauté until mushy. Switch off the stove, let it cool down and blend it in to smooth paste. Keep the tomato paste aside.

In the same kadai heat butter, add cinnamon sticks, cloves, cumin seeds, bay leaves and sauté for 20 secs. Now add the tomato paste to it, followed by ginger & garlic paste, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and kasthuri methi leaves. Add the required amount of salt as well.

Crush the kasthuri methi leaves real good with hand before adding it. Let it cook for 5 to 8 mins

In a pan add oil and fry paneer cubes and keep it aside. This is totally optional you can add paneer cubes as such.

Now add the paneer cubes and fresh cream to the gravy. Keep the stove in low flame and mix everything gently and leave it for 2 min in the stove and then switch it off. Here I have replaced fresh cream with single cream so that it will have less fat.

Finally garnish it with some cilantro or mint leaves.

Yes, yummy paneer butter masala is ready to be served. It can be served with roti or naan.

Suggestions:You can soak 10 cashew nuts in water and grind it and add it along with the tomato paste to make it richer.
  • You can as well use canned tomatoes, in that case use one can of tomato for the same.
  • If you are conscious about using butter, you can replace it with oil. And also you need not add the fresh cream, still your paneer butter masala will taste great.
