I am happy to say that I am part of
Home Bakers Challenge started by some of the fellow bloggers , initiated by Mrs. Priya Suresh and hosted by Mrs. Manjula of DesiFiesta .
The objective of this challenge is to learn and bake together.A special thanks to Mrs.
Manjula and Mrs. Priya Suresh for this wonderful challenge.
Mrs. Manjula challenged 4 different
breads Rainbow swirl bread, Monkey bread, Chocolate marble bread and Anadama
bread. Of all these breads I chose the Monkey/Pull apart bread and did the savoury
version of it. We all love it so much the bread was gone in no time as soon the
bread was baked.
Though I don’t know why this bread gets
its name, I found some info in Wikipedia that says “The origin of the term 'monkey bread' is uncertain. Possible etymologies include that the
bread resembles the monkey puzzle tree. It consists of soft pieces of bread
with cinnamon sprinkled on it. It is served at fairs and other parks as a treat.”
Ok guys now all that said, let’s
see how to make the monkey bread/pull apart bread
Here’s how to
make Garlic & Parmesan Pull Apart/Monkey Bread with step by step photos…
Ingredients
All purpose flour/Maida
|
3 ½ cups
|
Instant dry yeast
|
2 tsp
|
Warm water
|
1 cup
|
Sugar
|
1 ½ tsp
|
Salt
|
As needed
|
Olive oil
|
1 ½ tbsp.
|
Butter
|
¼ cup [melted]
|
Garlic
|
2 very finely chopped
|
Italian mixed herbs
|
2 tsp
|
Parmesan Cheese
|
4 tbsp
|
Method
Mix the dry yeast with the warm water
along with sugar and keep it aside for 5 min. It will form foam as shown in the
photo.
Take the flour in
a bowl; add the required amount of salt. Slowly add the yeast water, oil and
make the dough. Knead the dough until smooth and make a ball. Place the dough
ball in a well-oiled bowl and cover it with damp tea towel or cling film. Keep
it aside for 1 hour in a warm place. The dough will double its size.
Punch down the dough
and make it flat, make small balls out of the dough.
In a bowl mix the
melted butter, garlic, Italian mixed herbs together.
Oil the cake pan
or bundt cake pan. Now dip the dough balls in the butter mixture thoroughly and
start arranging in the cake pan.
Similarly dip all
the dough balls and arrange in the pan. Finally sprinkle the parmesan cheese
all over the dough balls.
Wrap it with
cling film and let the dough balls to sit for another 20 to 25 mins.
Pre heat the oven
to 175 ˚C
Bake
the dough balls for 30 to 35 min.
Cool
the pan for about 5 to 10 min. Transfer it to a plate and serve it hot with hot
chilli sauce or just tomato sauce…
