I have
already made kaara kozhukattai/Uppu urundai earlier with red chillies and
posted before, but now I made the same kaara kozhukattai with green chillies
and ginger. This kaara kozhukattai is a wonderful and a healthy evening snacks
for kids after school. I made this kaara kozhukattai for Vinayagar chathurthi
and I am sharing it with you all.
1 cup

Salt
|
As needed
|
Water
|
1 ¾ cup
|
Grated coconut
|
1 tbsp
|
Cilantro
|
2 tsp finely chopped
|
For
Tempering
Oil
|
1 tbsp
|
Mustard seeds
|
½ tsp
|
Cumin seeds
|
½ tsp
|
Channa dal/Kadala paruppu
|
1 tsp
|
Urad dal
|
1 tsp
|
Green chillies
|
2 finely chopped
|
Ginger
|
1 inch piece finely chopped
|
Curry leaves
|
6 to 8
|
Method
Heat
oil in a kadai, splutter mustard seeds, then add cumin seeds, channa dal, urad
dal and saute until they turn golden brown.
Add the
water, salt and let it boil. Once it starts to boil add the rice flour slowly
and keep stirring constantly.
When it
is still warm, grease your hands with oil and make balls in your hand and press
them with fingers as shown in the photo or just roll it.
Grease
the idli plates and arrange all the pidi kozhukattais and steam cook them for
about 10 to 12 min. Switch off the stove and let it cool for few minutes.
The
cooked kara pidi kozhukattai will look shiny and ready to be offered as
neivadhyam or as a wonderful evening snack.
