Biscuit Sablés/Eggless French Shortbread Biscuits

This Biscuit Sablés is for the Home Baker’s Challenge. Last month I missed the xmas bakes because I was on vacation. For this month we are exploring the French Cuisine. I know I am late for the challenge, but then thought better late than never. Thanks to Mrs. Priya Suresh for choosing the French cuisine for the challenge.

French Shortbread biscuits are very famous and they just melt in out mouth because of the butter. Like other short bread cookies they are really very easy and quick to make. They are really very soft and super delectable.

Here’s how to make Biscuit Sablés/Eggless French Shortbread Biscuits with step by step photos…

Ingredients

All Purpose Flour/Maida
1 ¼ cup
Softened Butter
½ cup
Powdered Sugar
¼ cup
Vanilla extract
¼ tsp
Milk or Water
½ tsp
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Baking time: 15-17 minutes
Serves: 25-26 biscuits

Method

Beat the butter and sugar together until they turn light and fluffy.

Add in vanilla extract, milk or water and beat for few more minutes, then add the flour.

Mix well to form a smooth dough.

Roll the dough between two parchment paper and flatten slowly with a rolling pin.

Using a cookie cutter, cut the cookies from the rolled dough. Usually the biscuit sablés are in round shape but I used different shapes just for fun.

Transfer the unbaked cookies to a baking sheet lined over a baking tray.

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Bake in the middle rack for 15 -18 minutes or until set. My cookies were done at 16 minutes.

Cool the cookies on baking sheets.

Enjoy the cookies and save the rest in air tight containers.

The cookies I baked were gone in no time, it was so addictive we all finished them in no time.
