Cilantro Chicken Masala Recipe/Coriander Chicken Masala – Green Coriander Chicken Curry with step by step photos

Here’s how to make Cilantro Chicken Masala with step by step photos…
Ingredients

For Masala/Gravy
Onion
1 big finely chopped
Tomato
2 small finely chopped
Green Chilli
1
Ginger & Garlic Paste
2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder
1 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder
3 tsp
Turmeric Powder
¼ tsp
Salt
As needed

For Marinating
Chicken
500 gms
Yogurt
¼ cup
Ginger & Garlic Paste
2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder
1 tsp
Turmeric Powder
½ tsp
Salt
As needed

For Grinding
Coriander Leaves/Cilantro
One big bunch
Curry Leaves
15
Green Chillies
4-5

For Tempering
Oil
2 tbsp
Fennel Seeds/Sombu
1 tsp
Cinnamon Sticks
2
Cloves
3-5
Cardamom/Elachi
2-3
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes           
Serves: 4 -6

Method
Wash the chicken thoroughly with water three to four times and finally wash it turmeric powder and keep it aside.


Add all the ingredients mentioned under marination to the chicken and mix really well. Marinate the chicken for at least 45 minutes or overnight.


Grind cilantro+ curry leaves + green chillies with little water and keep it aside.


Heat oil in a kadai, add the ingredients mentioned under tempering and fry for about 20 seconds.

Add onions & green chillies and fry until they turn golden brown colour.


Add the ginger & garlic paste and saute until the raw smell vanishes.


Now add the marinated chicken along with the masala and mix really well.


Cover & cook for about 15 minutes.


When the chicken is half cooked add the chopped tomatoes and mix really well.


Now add the red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and mix really well. Add little water and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the raw smell of the red chilli powder vanishes.


Add the ground coriander/cilantro paste to the chicken. 


Mix really well, cover & cook until oil separates.


Adjust the consistency of the chicken masala according to your requirement.
