Karuveppilai Thogayal/Curry Leaves Thogaiyal/Karuvepillai Thogaiyal iwth step by step photos


Today I am going to share a very healthy and easy Karuvepilai thogayal recipe which can be made in a jiffy. This is a very tasty and delectable thogaiyal that can be served with steam cooked rice or as side dish for idlis, dosas rotis or as a spread over bread. Ingredients
Curry Leaves/Karuveppilai
1 cup
Dry Red Chillies
6
Urad dal/Ullutham Paruppu
2 tsp
Mustard/Kadugu
1 tsp
Tamarind/Puli
Small gooseberry size ball
Asafoetida/Hing/Perungayam
One big pinch
Salt
As needed
Water
Little for grinding
Oil
2 tsp

    Method

    Wash the curry leaves thoroughly and drain all the water completely.


    Heat 2 tsp of oil, splutter mustard seeds, then add urad dal and saute until they turn light golden brown color.




    Now add dry red chillies, asafoetida/hing and fry for another 20-30 seconds.


    Add the curry leaves and saute for few seconds and switch off the stove. Let it cool completely.

    Add everything to the mixer, tamarind, little salt and grind it to a coarse paste with little water and transfer it to a bowl.


    Healthy and delectable Karuvepilai Thogayal is ready to be enjoyed. Serve it hot with steamed cooked white rice.
