Parboiled Rice Porridge/Parboiled Rice Kanji/Puzhungal Arisi Kanji – for Fever & Cold, for Babies - Healthy Kanji for All Age Groups


Parboiled Rice Porridge/Puzhungal Arisi Kanji is super healthy food that can fed to babies 6 month old as their first food. It is easily digestable and the omam helps in getting rid of gas in babies. This kanji is not just for babies, it can be given when someone is suffering from high fever, stomach upset, diarrhea or when someone is very tired or for new moms or for anyone suffering from ulcer. This rice kanji helps during high fever by giving strength and energy to fight infections. Puzhungal Arisi Kanji Powder/Parboiled Rice Kanji Powder

Parboiled Rice/Puzhungal Arisi
2 Cups
Ajwain/Carom Seeds/Omam
½ tbsp

To Make Kanji

Puzhungal Arisi Kanji Powder
2 tbsp
Water
2 cups
Salt
As needed

Method

To Make Puzhungal Arisi Kanji Powder

Dry roast parboiled rice/puzhungal arisi in medium flame. [Do not add oil/ghee etc]. Keep stirring to avoid burning of rice.


The rice will turn to beautiful golden brown color and the nice aroma will fill the room. 


Now add ajwain/omam give a good stir and switch off the stove.

Now let the rice cool down. Add the rice to the mixer and grind it to coarse powder as shown in the photo.



Store the powder in airtight container and use it whenever needed.

To Make Puzhangal Arisi Kanji with the Powder prepared

Take 2 tbsp of this Puzhungal Arisi Kanji Powder in a sauce pan.


Add 2 cups of water, little salt and mix thoroughly.


Cook on low medium flame for about 10-12 minutes or until the rice is well cooked.


When the Kanji/Porridge is completely cooked,  switch off the stove.


A very healthy Puzhungal Arisi Kanji is ready to be enjoyed. You can serve it as it is or serve it with a bowl of pepper rasam.
