Method
Wash the chicken thoroughly with water for at least 2-3 times and drain the water. Add ½ tsp of turmeric powder to the chicken, mix well, add water, wash, and drain the water.

Wash and cut the tomatoes and add it to the mixer.

Grind the tomatoes to puree and keep it ready.

Add Chicken to a wide bowl, add 2 tbsp of ginger garlic paste, 1 ½ tbsp. of red chilli powder, 2 tbsp of  coriander powder, ½ tsp of turmeric powder, ½ tsp of black pepper powder, salt and yogurt.

Mix everything really well with your hands.

Now add the tomato puree and mix really well.

Finally add 3 tbsp of gingelly oil to the chicken and mix well. Cover it and keep it in the refrigerator for at least one hour.

Heat a kadai/pan and add the marinated chicken and start cooking the chicken on medium low flame.

Once the chicken starts to boil, give a good stir, cover it and cook for about 20-25 minutes.

Open in between and stir to avoid any burning of chicken. When the chicken is halfway cooked add 2 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

Cook the chicken until well done. Finally the oil will separate out of the chicken; this is the right stage to switch off the stove.

Finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves and the Tomato Chicken is ready.

Delicious, spicy, tangy and tasty Tomato Chicken is ready to be enjoyed. Serve it hot with steam cooked white rice or with rotis/chapathis/dosas.
