Here's a short Video of how to make Siru Keerai Kadaiyal
Take each stem in hand, pluck only the leaves and keep
them separately. Save the stems as well so that they can be used to make Thandu
Soup. Please watch the video to see how to clean siru keerai.
Wash the siru keerai leaves 3-4 times thoroughly with
water to get rid of mud.
Keep all the ingredients ready.

Method
Add 1.5 cups of water to the pressure cooker; add the
washed siru keerai to the pressure cooker.
Now add chopped onion, tomatoes, green chillies,
garlic cloves, tamarind and salt to the pressure cooker.
Keep the pressure cooker on the stove, mix everything
well. Pressure cook the keerai for 1-2 whistles and switch off the stove.
Wait for the steam to release all by itself. Open the lid, transfer it to chatti/mud pot, and mash
it really well with masher/mathu or you can add it to the mixer and grind it
well.
Mash the keerai really well until soft as shown and
keep it aside.
Heat 1 tsp of oil in kadai/pan, crackle cumin seeds,
then add thallippu vadagam, dry red chillies and fry for 10 seconds, then switch
off the stove.
Now transfer the tempering to the keerai. Mix
everything really well.
Healthy, delicious and tempting Siru Keerai Kadiyal is
ready to be enjoyed. Serve it hot with steam cooked white rice.
