Method
I have
used white thick aval, you can choose any aval of your choice red or white, thin
or thick whichever is available.
Wash
the poha thoroughly with water for 2-3 times and drain it. Soak for about 10-12
minutes. If you are using thin poha, wash it and soak it only for about 3-5
minutes.
Squeeze
out the excess water from the poha and keep it aside for another 10-15 minutes
for thick variety and for about 10 minutes for thin variety. Make sure the
aval/poha is soft irrespective of whatever type of poha/aval you are using.
Meanwhile
grate the jaggery, grate the coconut and keep it ready.
Add one
big pinch of salt to the aval/poha.
Now add
the grated jaggery to the aval/Poha.
Then
add the grated coconut to the aval/poha.
Finally
add ¼ tsp of cardamom powder/elachi powder to the aval/poha.
Mix
everything really well and until evenly mixed.
Yes,
delicious and healthy Sweet Aval/Inippu Aval is ready to be enjoyed. Sprinkle
some grated coconut and offer it for Pooja as neivedhyam or serve it evening
snacks for kids.
Suggestions:
I have
used clean jaggery, so I have add the grated jaggery as such. You can make a simple
and thick jaggery syrup by boiling 2 tsp of water with jaggery and filter it to
remove impurities. After the syrup cools down add it to the Aval/Poha.
You can
also add roasted cashew nuts finally for garnishing.
