Tandoori Tiger Prawns/Tandoori King Prawns is a traditional Indian recipe made in Tandoor clay ovens and served as starters. You can make the same Tadoori Prawns at home either in an oven/grill/grill tawa. I have added homemade masala powder to make the marinade, you can also replace it with the store bought Tandoori masala. Prawns cook really fast, it is always better to use bigger prawns to make this recipe, as they will turn out juicy and will have lot of meat. Do try out this Tandoori Tiger Prawns and post your comments here. Meanwhile do check out other interesting Prawn/Shrimp Recipes here, Fish Recipes here, ChickenRecipes here and Mutton Recipes here.

Method
Wash
and peel the Tiger Prawns thoroughly with water.
Slit with the knife on the back side of the Tiger Prawns and pull out the black thread like vein – De-veining the prawns. Wash it one more time thoroughly with water and drain the water completely.
Now squeeze ½ lemon
juice on top of it.
Add 1 tsp red chili powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp garam masala powder, ½ tsp cumin powder, ¼ tsp black pepper powder, 2 tsp of thick curd and required salt.
Add 1.5 tsp of
ginger &garlic paste and 2 tsp of gingelly oil.
Mix everything
really well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to one hour.
Meanwhile soak the
skewers in water for at least 30 minutes. This will prevent the skewers from burning and cooking along with the food.
Get the Tiger
prawns put of the refrigerator. Insert the prawn into the skewer as shown here.
Similarly insert
all the prawn’s into the skewers.
Heat 2 tsp of oil
in a grill pan. Arrange 3-4 skewers in the grill pan and start cooking them on
low medium flame.
After 3-4 minutes turn
the prawns and cook on the other side also.
Cook on all sides, it takes approximately 10-12 minutes for the Tiger prawns to be grilled.
Similarly cook rest
of the prawns in batches.
Yummy, delicious and super tempting Tandoori Tiger Prawn is ready to be enjoyed. Serve it hot with lemon wedges.
To cook Tiger Prawns in a grill
Place the skewers
on plate lined with aluminium foil.
Switch on the microwave and change it to grill mode. Keep the plate inside the grill as shown.
Cook for about 10 minutes on one side, then remove the plate from the grill. Turn the prawns and cook for another 10 minutes.
When done, remove from microwave and enjoy the grilled Tiger prawns along with lemon wedges.
Suggestions:
If you do not have
skewers and grill pan, you can make the same margination for the prawns, then
add 1-2 tbsp of oil in a kadai and fry them. It will taste awesome.
Adjust the amount
of salt and spice according to your family needs.
I have not added
any food color, if you want you can very well add a pinch of red food color or
add ½ tsp of Kashmiri Chilli powder when mixing the masala for marination.
