Method
Cut the bread slices to cubes as shown.
Heat oil/ghee in a kadai, when the oil is hot enough,
add the cut bread pieces until they turn to golden brown color. Drain it out of
the oil.
Similarly fry all the bread pieces in batches and keep it ready.
In a pan, heat about 1 tbsp of ghee, add cashew nuts
and fry to light golden color, then add raisins and fry until they turn puffy
and transfer them to a plate.
Transfer all the nuts and raisins to a plate. To the same pan add all the fried bread pieces.
Add the boiled and cooled milk to the bread pieces.
Mix everything really well on low flame.
The bread pieces will start to absorb all the milk and become mushy.
Add 1/2 cup of sugar and mix in really well.
Keep stirring really well until everything is well
combined.
Add 1 tbsp of ghee and cook everything really well.
Slowly the color of the bread halwa will change and the ghee will start to release on the sides.
At this stage, add the fried cashew nuts and raisins
to the bread halwa.
Finally add cardamom powder/elachi powder and mix
everything really well and switch off the stove.
