4 sliced |
Green Chillies |
2 finely chopped |
Ginger |
1 inch finely chopped |
Red Chilli Powder |
1 tsp |
Turmeric Powder |
¼ tsp |
Bengal Gram Flour/Kadalai Maavu |
1 cup [ 200 gms] |
Rice Flour/Arisi Maavu |
½ cup [100 gms] |
Curry Leaves/Karuvepilai |
10-12 finely chopped |
Cilantro/Kothamalli |
2 tbsp finely chopped |
Salt |
As needed |
Hot Oil |
2 tsp |
Oil |
For Frying |

Slice
the onions, chop the green chillies, ginger, curry leaves and cilantro.
Add
sliced onions to a bowl, then add green chillies, ginger, salt, red chilli
powder and turmeric powder.
Mix
really well, the onions will start to ooze out water.
Add
finely chopped cilantro and mix really well.
At this
stage add Bengal gram flour/kadalai maavu and rice flour.
Mix
everything really well until evenly mixed.
Now
heat 2 tsp of oil in a kadai and switch off the stove.
Add the
oil to the bonda mixture and mix really well. Bonda mixture is ready.
Heat oil in a kadai to fry the bondas. When the oil is hot enough, make balls as shown and drop it into the oil slowly.
When
dropping the bondas, lower the flame. Let the bondas cook on medium flame until
golden brown, turning the bonda now and then.
Cook on
all the sides evenly and drain it out of the oil and transfer it to a plate
lined with paper towel.
Delicious
and super tempting Onion Bonda/Vengaya Bonda is ready to be enjoyed.
