Method

Keep all the ingredients ready.

Wash the siru keerai thandu/stem thoroughly with water for 3-4 times and drain the water.

Cut off the root part of the siru keerai thandu and keep it ready.

Add the cut siru keerai to the pressure cooker then add the chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, garlic cloves, turmeric powder, salt to the pressure cooker.

Add about 4 cups of water to the pressure cooker.

Close the lid and pressure cook for about 4-5 whistles.

Wait for the steam to release all by itself then open the lid.

Strain out the siru keerai stem/thandu and discard it.

Now strain out the onion, tomatoes, green chillies etc. Grind the strained out onions, tomatoes and green chillies.

Add the ground paste back to the strained out soup.

Add ½ tsp of cumin powder to the soup and adjust the salt level at this stage.
