The name 7 Cup Burfi is just an easy way to remember, that all ingredients are each one cup except sugar alone being 3 cups. Though I have made this several times, I was unable to share it with you all, so this time I made sure I click some pictures and share it with you all. It is one such recipe, that even the beginners can try because it does not involve in making the single string sugar syrup etc.  Any way friends, do try out this delectable, tempting and mouthwatering 7 cup burfi and post your comments here. The best part of thayir/curd vadai is, though the vadai’s are fried in oil, as they are soaked in water for about a minute and when squeezing out the water all most all the oil also comes out of the vadai and they become very soft. All the goodness of yogurt/thayir, protein from urad dal, added vegetables makes this a delicious evening snack. Do check out other Vadai Varieties here and other starters/Appetizers/Evening Snacks here

Sakkarai Pongal Recipe/Sweet Pongal with Jaggery/Chakkarai Pongal Recipe/Sakkarai Pongal with step by step photos

Sakkarai Pongal/Sweet Pongal with jaggery is an authentic and traditional dish prepared on special pooja days and occasions for neivedhyam. Usually sakkarai pongal is prepared in “vengala paanai” [bronze pot] or in a mud pot, but here I used a regular heavy bottomed vessel. Sakkarai Pongal is made with rice, dal, jaggery , milk and ghee on Pongal – Harvest festival of Tamil Nadu and offered to Sungod. Today being Puratasi [Tamil Month] Saturday, I made this special sakarai pongal for Lord Venkateshwara. Puratasi month is very important for Tamilians because it is believed that lord Venkateshwara appeared on the Earth in this month. All the Saturdays of puratassi month fasting is observed and special prayers are performed. Sometimes fasting is carried out throughout the month also.
