Dahi Aloo is a famous and common North India dish served as side dish for Rotis/Chapathis, White Rice, Cumin Rice, Ghee Rice etc. Dahi Aloo means Potatoes cooked in Curd/yogurt. It is a very easy recipe that can be made in a jiffy. Dahi aloo can be made with onions, ginger and garlic and is totally optinal, but I prefer making it with them. Vetrilai/Betel Leaf/Paan plays a vital role in poojas, prayers, religious ceremonies, special occasions, weddings etc. Including betel leaves in our diet is important because they have many curative and healing health benefits. The betel leaves/vetrilai is loaded with vitamin C, riboflavin, niacin, thiamine, carotene and is a wonderful source of calcium. They help in controlling blood sugar, cures bleeding gums, eliminates bad breath and helps in increasing metabolic rate. Midhukku Vathal Kuzhambu/Vathakuzhambu with Midhukku Vathal

Midhukku Vathal is a very famous and popular vathal made in the district of Thirunelveli and Karaikudi in TamilNadu. Midhukku vathal is made from a small vegetable that belongs to cucumber family which looks similar to kovaikkai. It is called as wild melon in English.  It is very good to include midhukku vathal in our diet because it reduces bad cholesterol, improves digestion and liver function, it also reduces unwanted water retention and helps in de-worming. This vegetable is cut into small pieces, dried in sunlight and then soaked in curd overnight along with salt. During the day it is sun dried and soaked in remaining curd during night till it fully absorbs the curd and becomes crisp and dry. This dried vathal can be stored for about a year. This midhukku vathal can be deep fried in oil and had as side dish along with all rice varieties or can be added in kuzhambu to make vatha kuzhambu. Besan Chutney or Kadalai Maavu Chutney, otherwise called as Bombay Chutney is a very easy and quick dish that can be made with very little ingredients and is perfect side dish for Idlis, Dosas, Pooris, Chapathis etc. Bombay Chutney is the South Indian version of Pitla - a traditional Maharashtrian curry made with Besan Flour, onions and green chillies, it is also famous in the regions of Karnataka. This chutney can be prepared without any vegetables, without coconut and the best part is no grinding is involved.
